Notices
We have had a request from club member
Zheng. He asks if he could buy/ borrow
any commemorative coins or medallions related to the British royal family; weddings, coronations, jubilee etc. for an
exhibition at the university of Reading. In particular he
would be interested in any Edward the Eighth and Princess Diana commemoratives.
Any help through loans or purchases would be much appreciated.
March 2025 Meeting
Our March meeting saw the annual members-only
club auction. The turn out of members was good, but numbers were a little down
on previous years. There were 250 lots available, and a list of the items sold and their hammer prices are given below.
Most items were sold at their reserve, but
a few items were contested and sold above reserve. The total of hammered sums
was £1866. The club commission of 10% is a welcome addition to our funds.
Many thanks to Ian, our auctioneer, to
James for recording the sales, and to Jawaid and John for their assistance in
managing the lots. Also, many thanks are due to the vendors in providing the
lots and to all our purchasers.
Some highlights from the sale:
1845 Crown
1951 Proof set
1723 6d
