Next club meeting Monday 5th January

·       Short Talks By members.

Monday 2nd February.

Monday 2nd March

Meetings are held at the Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, commencing at 7.00 p.m.

The next club meeting is on Monday 5th January. As usual the main item of the meeting is the short talks by members, with the talk voted best being awarded the Marc Myhill Memorial Shield. So over the quiet period after Christmas please give thought to giving a short talk (10/15 minutes) to the club. It would be appreciated if you could let me know in advance if you intend to give a talk, as it helps in planning the evening.

December Meeting

The Club meeting in December was a members evening: buying and selling, a buffet supper and a quiz. The buffet supper was organised once again by Henry and was much appreciated by the 20 or so members attending the meeting.

Following on from this we had a quiz by Tony, set out below, answers next time….

Xmas Lunch

In lieu of a Christmas Party this year, I propose that we have a lunchtime meal out together. Probable venue is the Cunning Man at Burghfield, near Reading. I have a couple of dates in mind - Saturday 10th January and Sunday 18th January. Please let me know if (a) you are interested in joining the get together and (b) your preference of the dates above. Please respond to me by January 5th at the latest.

Club Subscriptions

The members subscriptions do not meet all the club costs; indeed they barely meet 50% of the annual room hire. The club committee will look at ways that subscriptions can be gradually increased without too much pain to members balanced against other sources of revenue, the reserves that we have, and the number of meetings that we can sustain.

The club committee will also be reviewing our paid-up membership in January, so if you have not subscribed for 2025-2026 yet, please do so as soon as possible!

Club Auction

As usual the March meeting will be the club auction. However this year we are looking for fewer but better auction lots. We are looking for coins, tokens etc in good grades. We do not want volume lots of low grade coins, nor volume recent issues of coins whatever their grades. Please ensure that your auction lots reach the club by the February meeting latest.
