Monday 3rd June 2022.

·         Annual General Meeting and Display Competition

Meetings are held at the Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, commencing at 7.00 p.m.

Notices

It is getting close to the Annual General Meeting when the committee is chosen by the members. Please consider joining the committee as two of the existing members are standing down.

We are having our 60th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday May 18th at 11-45 in the Abbey Baptist Church. There will be a few VERY short talks, a finger buffet and a display of Reading related numismatic items. Please let us know if you are able to attend as we need to know the numbers, there will be a form to sign alongside the normal signing in sheet at the April meeting or you can e-mail/phone me. If you have any Reading related material, please consider allowing us to add it to the display. In particular we’d like to have the 1812 Reading 40/-, 1811 Reading Half Crown and the 1811 Reading Eighteen pence tokens. Please get in touch with me with any details.

Also, there will be a form to sign for the Summer Social trip to the Royal Mint, as again, we need to know the numbers.

March Meeting

This was the annual club auction. Sixteen different members purchased at least one item, from the six vendors who put in lots and donated lots. There were eight lots of £100 or over, with three lots of £200 or over. Highlights from the auction included an 1893 LVI Crown and a 1906 Florin that sold for a hammer price of £225 and £280 respectively.

In total, the sale totalled £3,202 raising £428-20 for the club (including donations). There were 250 lots of which 114 sold on the night.

Thank you to all the people who helped the auction to run (almost) like clockwork, especially Gavin, Ian, Jawaid, Peter, James and Henry.
