Aug 25th 2021.

Next club meeting Monday 6th September 2021.

·        Subject – We will reopen with a lecture from Dr. Volker Heutcher, Curator of Greek and Roman Provincial Coins at the Ashmolean Museum.

·        If you do intend to attend the meeting, and you haven’t already, please let us know in advance, we do need an idea of numbers.

Covid requirements for the Church Hall

The Church has not imposed any special rules about gatherings. All the Committee asks is that members should be sensitive to the wishes of other members to keep as safe as possible. Could you please bring a face mask, to be used at your discretion. The usual facilities will be offered: trading, tea/coffee, library access and, of course, the Talk.

August Meeting

The August meeting was our Summer Social and twelve members and partners turned up at Peter’s house for an outside social in perfect weather. Apologies were received from Gavin and Anne. Cups of tea and delicious cakes were provided by our hosts and several collections of interesting coins were passed around, including some that had been awaiting identification.

It was a wonderful experience to meet some of the members in the flesh again and we are all looking forward to the club reopening in September.

John reiterated his call for new committee members and warned that everyone should watch out for the newsletter (this one) so that they would be aware of any restrictions that the Church may choose to impose on our meeting. He also thanked Peter and nis wife for being such wonderful hosts.

Internet enquiries

During the COVID year I have received about a dozen enquiries from people regarding the club. Some are potential new members and I propose to invite them to the October meeting. We are restricting our first meeting to current members only.
