April meeting.
Tony Holmes visited the club once again to tell us about his finds in ‘junk’ boxes and challenged the club members to identify a wide variety of coins. Here are some of them:
Club members managed to identify (more or less) somewhat more than half of the coins presented. A very interesting talk from Tony who has offered Part III!
Spring social - Skittles Evening
A group of fifteen, comprising members and partners, met at the Red Lion at Theale for the annual skittle match. The first game was a boys versus girls, convincingly(?) won by the boys 131 to 129. The highest scorer for the boys was Paul with 24 in nine skittles, whilst the highest score for the girls was Frank (an honorary member!) who scored 19. In the second game, where each player has three lives but MUST knock down at least one skittle each time Mick was victorious although ran very close by Jean. The final game also involves three lives, but each player is required to knock down ONLY one skittle each time. This was won by Simon, again with Jean coming second. A very enjoyable evening for all those who made the effort.
Committee Members
Once again we are approaching the end of the Year and are short of any volunteers to serve on the committee. While most of the current members will be staying on, we have one certain vacancy as Henry has to stand down by the rules of the Constitution. Please give some serious thought to the possibility of giving something back to the club by joining the committee.
