January 25th 2001.

Next club meeting Monday 5th February 2001.

Meetings are held at the Abbey Baptist Church, Abbey Square, commencing at 7.00 p.m.

January meeting.

This was our annual club auction, which was well attended with some good brisk bidding. There were 121 lots of which only 8 remained unsold. A total of £432-95 was paid for the lots and the club earned £56-44 from commission and lots donated for club funds, a creditable effort.

Our grateful thanks go to Frank who was the auctioneer and to other members who assisted in making the evening go smoothly and yourselves for attending.

Two dealer tables opened at the end of the auction and nineteen members attended

I appear to have a gap in my records of the meetings from 20 years ago so this will need to be held in abeyance for the time being. However since I cannot do 20 years, I will do 30 years instead!

Meeting held on 2nd February 1971 at the Reading Museum was a talk given by Mr. A.F.J. White whose subject was The History of Calculating Machines. At that time we still had £sd (just) which probably makes my little puzzle all the more interesting.

17th Century tokens

I have a non member friend who collects 17th Century tokens of Windsor and who wishes to purchase items to improve his collection. He will pay cash or exchange for similar tokens of Reading. Any enquiries to me please.
